Who we are

Welcome to Sensible Electronics and Technology—where we make everyday tech easier to understand and use. Our mission is simple: to help adults, including older adults, feel more confident, connected, and in control when using technology.

Our founder, Dr. Bryan Terry, is a geriatric medicine physician who brings experience supporting adults with patience, empathy, and clear communication. That foundation of care and trust is at the heart of everything we do.

Before medicine, Dr. Terry worked at RadioShack, where he helped people use their cell phones, work DVD players, or learn about GPS navigation units. Seeing how overwhelming it can be for many adults to keep up with constantly changing technology, along with the hands-on tech background, inspired this service.

We offer in-home one-on-one tutoring, small group workshops, purchase assistance, and in-home tech support throughout Fairfield and New Haven Counties in Connecticut. Whether you’re learning to use a smartphone, install apps, avoid online scams, FaceTime with family, or stream your favorite shows—we’re here to patiently help, step by step, in plain language.

Clients often tell us they appreciate our calm, friendly approach and the way we explain things clearly and simply. We believe technology should empower you—not overwhelm you—and we’re here to make sure it does just that.

If you or a loved one could use a little extra tech help, we’d love to hear from you!

Why we do this

Dr. Terry has learned through his career in geriatric medicine that there needs to be a focus on breaking down information into manageable steps, moving at each person’s comfort level. Just as he did in medicine, we listen carefully, explain thoughtfully, and adjust our approach to each individual’s needs. Our goal is to build confidence, independence, and a sense of accomplishment with every session.

Bridging the Digital Gap for Adults and Older Adults

In today’s connected world, digital literacy is no longer optional—it’s essential. Yet many adults, particularly those in older age groups, face significant challenges using modern technology. As services, communication, and entertainment increasingly move online, a growing number of people find themselves left behind—not due to a lack of interest, but because of a lack of support, accessible instruction, and patient guidance.

Man adults and older adults struggle with using basic devices, apps, or understanding how to stay safe online. The rapid pace of technological change, coupled with a lack of personalized education, has left many feeling confused, isolated, or even anxious about internet and device use.

This is where Sensible Electronics and Technology steps in.

Our mission is to empower adults—especially older adults—with the knowledge and confidence to use everyday technology. Whether it’s learning to video chat with family, use email, pay bills securely, recognize online scams, or simply navigate a smartphone, our one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions help clients bridge the digital divide.

Unlike generic tech help desks or rushed retail support, our approach is built around patience, personalization, and dignity. Founded by a geriatric medicine physician, our services are uniquely informed by a deep understanding of how adults learn, adapt, and engage with technology. We focus not only on teaching skills, but on reducing fear, increasing independence, and improving quality of life.

There is a particularly strong need in retirement communities, assisted living centers, and among early retirees who want to stay connected and capable, but who are underserved by traditional tech support channels. These individuals are often highly motivated to learn—but need support that is clear, pressure-free, and adapted to their learning style.

The gap we aim to fill is both practical and emotional. Clients frequently report feeling embarrassed asking family members for help, or simply not knowing where to start. Without the right support, technology becomes a source of frustration instead of empowerment.

Our goal is to provide that missing support—by meeting learners where they are, offering simple, engaging instruction, and creating a trusted space where no question is too small. We also emphasize online safety and scam prevention, a growing concern for this population.

Demand is growing. From private clients to community organizations seeking group workshops, the need for approachable, real-world tech help continues to rise. By expanding access to these services through local partnerships and outreach—like Tech Help Kiosks and in-residence tutoring—we can close the digital gap for more people in a meaningful, lasting way.

In short, this is not just about using a smartphone. It is about restoring confidence, independence, and connection in an increasingly digital world. That’s the need we serve—and the opportunity we invite others to join us in addressing.
